Doing a first look adds so much beautiful emotion and happiness to a wedding day and alleviates so much stress, it's hard to know where to start raving about it! Some people are hesitant to do a first look due to lack of tradition, but most people don't know where the tradition came from.

It used to be that a bride and groom had never even met each other before the ceremony. It was so the groom wouldn't split! We choose to marry the person that we love and we can also choose to see them before the ceremony! Here are the main reasons I feel doing a first look is the best option for every couple:

- It gives you time to be with your spouse-to-be! Your wedding day will seem to go by in the blink of an eye. Seeing each other before the ceremony will give you private time to hug, kiss, laugh, and cry!

- It truly doesn't take away from the emotion of a bride walking down the aisle. I'm speaking from experience as a photographer and as a bride. Walking down the aisle is a completely different, wonderful and powerful emotional experience.

- It allows more time for treasured photos. If you don't do a first look you'll be spending time taking photos after the ceremony when you'd rather be spending time with your friends and family who are waiting for you at the reception!
